Reduction of SOx and NOx Emissions

To reduce emissions from traditional refineries or renewables such as Renewable Diesel (RD) and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), JANUS Technology Solutions, LLC (JANUS), has developed innovative solutions to mitigate the atmospheric release of toxic gases such as SOx and NOx that originate from H2S (hydrogen sulfide) and NH3(ammonia).

For these applications, the current technology solutions advocate the use of Thermal Oxidizers (T/O) coupled with Wet Gas Scrubbing applied to H2S while Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) applied to post-combustion of NH3. Such current technologies provide an acceptable solution to satisfy typical air permitting requirements but represent an operating expense only with no revenue value to the End-User.

By converting H2S and NH3 to valuable by-products of sodium hydrogen sulfide (NaHS) and ammonium sulfate (NH4)2SO4 by simple absorption with chemical reaction, we now have created saleable products for the pulp and paper industry, metal refining, and the fertilizer industry, respectively.
