Renewable Diesel (Reduction of SOx & NOx)
Steam stripping the sour water stream generated within the Renewable Fuels Plant forms a gaseous stream comprising hydrogen sulfide and ammonia; and contacting the gaseous stream with acidified water to absorb the ammonia into the water while the balance remains as a gas stream comprised carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide.
The ammonia water solution is neutralized with a strong acid to form ammonium salt; and the hydrogen sulfide rich gas is recycled back to the hydrotreating reactor.
